The Different Types of Wig Making Caps
Traditional Cap
Traditional Cap - Wefts of hair are sewn onto the cap, which has a closed lace layer at the crown. The hair is cut and styled into a specific style and the crown is often teased or crimped so you cannot see down through to the cap. This type of cap often gives the hair volume at the crown.
Open Cap
Instead of the closed lace layer at the crown, open cap has vertical lace strips with open spaces between the wefts. This is a cool, comfortable design that you have the option to pull your hair through, for a natural look.
Adjustable Memory Cap
Adjustable Memory cap that replaces the wide stretch lace used in most of today's wigs with a thinner, more resilient stretch material that actually molds to the shape of the head for a lighter, more secure fit. Some caps come with adjustable tabs that extend from the crown to the nape of the wig cap. Average wig cap can either be adjusted to a smaller or larger cap size.
Crochet Net Cap
Crochet not cap is great for creating crochet styles. You can follow the same process of securing the hair using a latch hook except instead of doing it on your cornrows, you attach it to the net.
Braided Wig Cap
Braided wig cap is made for crochet braids or weaves. Finished braided pattern on a cap, eliminates the pain or tension associated with crochet styles.
Lace Front/ Monofilament Cap
Lace front/Monofilament construction gives the appearance that the hair is growing from the scalp. Thin, breathable fabric is placed at the front of the head toward the crown section, lace front creates the illusion of natural hair growth along the hairline. The top portion of the cap is specially woven to allow for comfort and excellent ventilation.
Full Lace/ Hand Tied Cap
Full lace cap creates the most natural movement as each hair moves freely. Each hair on the entire cap is hand-tied onto the base. The softest and most comfortable cap, its ideal for a sensitive scalp & hair loss. Allows for styling versatility as you can comb the hair in any direction. Also known as 100% hand-knotted.
